Eco Friendly Cars PDF Print E-mail

This week I was thinking it is almost time to buy another car.  Unfortunately, I drive around 130 miles per day.  I know not very "green".  I want to purchase something efficient and "green friendly", but I don't have an unlimited budget.  So I test drove a Honda Fit, rated with 34 miles per gallon on the highway and $13,500 price tag.  My local dealer happened to have two to chose from, both bright red in color.  One a standard shift with the lower sticker of approx. $14,600 and the automatic shift with approx. sticker of $16,500.  Of course, they are small but with an extended top and a hatchback.  They rode a little rough, reminding me of the Civic.   But, for the price a good deal.  I did prefer the standard shift over the automatic (putting your foot into it was a little slow and rough).  This is just my first look around.  Currently I get 29 miles to the gallon with over 100,000 miles on my 2001 Toyoto Camry.  I'm going to look into the E85 fuel products and hybrids for a future purchase.  However, which will prevail, plugins, hybrids or alternative fuels?
